Is there anything aside from excesive wear I need to watch out for before trying my hand at replacing the valve seals on an older set of 882 heads? I've got a set of them, and I found a set of replacement seals while cleaning the shop today. I think a good cleanup on these heads should be decent enough to use on my old '69 307 while I rebuild the 305 for the car. I just want to have something that will let me drive the car on and off the trailer. I hate having to use the come-a-long- every single time I need the trailer.....
Just use the clear plastic sleeve, that slips over the end of the valve stem, and a little oil, before you push them on. You shouldn't have any problem. I would check the seats and the shape of the valve faces to be sure they are ok.

Cool, thanks for the tips, I appreciate them! I believe they are the positive seals. Maybe I'll be able to fire this car up the week of Easter.
